Chest Pain

I have GERD and have been on Prilosec since Feb. They also think I have Crohn's disease. Right now I am having terrible chest pain and I feel like a balloon that needs to be popped. I rarely feel acid reflux mostly just chest pain. I visited with my GI specialist today. He said that chest pain and acid reflux are one in the same. Just different people feel it differently. The Prilosec has take the edge off but it hasn't fixed the problem. Now my insurance won't cover the Prilosec anymore and I'm taking Zantac. It is doing nothing for me. Does anyone else get chest pain? And if so what are you taking for it?
Thanks,

Bridget, thank you for your comments. It confirms that I'm on the right path. I've been wearing an event monitor for a month and I'm seeing a surgeon concerning an endoscopy next week. I took Aciphex for three weeks without relief. I've been taking Nexium for 10 days and have had better results with that although still have some chest and stomach pain. Have you tried Nexium? Have you tried all the recommendations for GERDs such as raising the head of your bed, eating less and more often, avoiding certain foods, etc.? The amount of food I eat really determines how bad I'll feel.

Pansy,
I wore an event monitor for that long as well. What a pain! But at least I have peace of mind that it is not my heart! And the endescope or EGD proved that I had Chronic inflamation in my small intestines and 3 nodules in my esophagus. But the only test that could prove the GERD was the upper GI. Have you had that done yet? Make sure they do it to if it hasn't already been done.
I sleep in a waveless waterbed and havn't even tried to lift the head of that bed. But I'm thinking mabey it's time for a new bed. I love the one I have. But with my GERD and my husbands bad back I think it's time for a change!
I havn't tried Nexium yet. My insurance doesn't cover it. But I would be willing to pay for it if it works. Do you know about how much it costs?
I do eat less and more often. But with me I'm loosing so much weight that it kinda counter predicts my problem. Less and more often and avoiding certain foods tends to put you on a diet that is more healthy and less fatening. So I'm kinda in a bind! But I am seeing a GI specialist now so I know answers are not far away!
Thanks Pansy,
Bridget
