DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT PAXIL?

I'm new to depression and have been advised to take Paxil. I'm not really a medicine taker skull so does anyone have any other options? I noticed I feel better if I just get up and go anywhere but home like walking, I have some video games and stuff that make me feel better.
I took Paxil for a long time. It helped me with my depression but started to make me feel totally numb.

We can respond to irritation with a smile instead of scowl, or by giving warm praise instead of icy indifference. By our being understanding instead of abrupt, others, in turn, may decide to hold on a little longer rather than to give way. Love, patience, and meekness can be just as contagious as rudeness and crudeness.

Well, there are a few things one can do for mild depression. These include daily exercise, journal writing, making goals each day and sticking to them, eating properly, getting enough shut eye...

That being said, these didn't work for my depression and I needed to take an anti-depressant. Have you talked to your dr. about your reluctance to take this? That might be a good place to start. There is also a natural remedy called St.Johns Wort that some people take for depression. I don't know much about it but you can ask your dr. or pharmacist.

Take care, Softy

If you do decide to take Paxil, be aware of weight gain. I've tried many different antidepressants and found Paxil to cause the most weight gain. And also be aware if you go on it and then want to go off it, do so very slowly, I was sick for over three months while trying to go off of this med.

I didn't even think about that I'm already over weight. Thanx for the warning.
Hello, I saw your subject line. I normally post on the Brest Cancer forum. I have taken Paxil off and on for several years, not for depression, but for anxiety and a little OCD. I thought this was primarily what this was for, but my medical oncologist prescribed this for me for "depression". I did not believe that I was "depressed" (was actually angry at her). It has calmed me down.

Like the others said, I would call my doctor -- perhaps Paxil is not for you and you need some other med.
