Esophagael spasm, palpitations?

Can Esophagael Spasm's cause heart palpitations? I've got one doctor telling me it's perfectly possible due to the nerves within your chest, and another telling me that they're completely unrelated so not possible.

I tend to get a momentary crushing pain in the centre of my chest under my sternum which takes my breath away, lasts a few seconds, goes away and quickly comes back, during these episodes I either feel my heart forcefully skip a beat or have an extra beat, I tend to feel quite faint during this.

Please help smile
I had esophageal spams, and it caused my heart to beat rapidly. I didn’t have skipped beats that I know o. It is so painful to have a spasm that I was more concerned about that pain rather than my heart.

I also went to a cardiologist to get my heart checked out. It was fine but it is a good idea to get your heart checked out when dealing with chest pain and heart palpitations. I went to my GP and told her that I was having chest pain, so I was checked with an EKG. I had other heart tests because I am older.

Hopefully you are being treated for your esophageal problems. I had a esophageal stricture and inflammation. I wa put on Carafate and PPIs. It has all gone away. I would drink or eat something to stop the spasms.
