Anybody else take readings on their arm and then on their finger?
My shot teacher told me to do my readings on my fingers because the arm readings weren't accurate and so this morning I did both... Wow! Arm was 162... finger was 138... Guess I'm back to the darned finger pokes again...

I suggest you try it again. Make sure you either use alchol swab or wash both areas and let dry before testing. This way you make sure yo are getting a good test.

AL,
Did re do it this am. Arm was 148, finger was 120... Nurse said that the capillary blood in the fingers is more diluted.. which makes no sense to me.. Diluted blood? I think I'll email the meter company... Something is up here.

blood from the same hole in the same finger often gives quite different readings, I think the fault is the machines, they arent nearly as accurate as people think they are, the decimal place is misleading
Well I had my second diabetes training today (ALL DAY!) and I learned some new stuff. My last training was ten years ago and I'm glad to see that there have been a few changes for the better. One thing I'm not so happy about is the stupid finger testing. Now that I'm on insulin the instructor says I have to use fingers, not arms. So now I'm all pokey again. (I gotta get over this grump... )
