Hi, this is my first post on this forum. I have been flaring really badly lately and am absolutely tired out to the point of feeling faint at times, especially after overeating! After eating I am even more exhausted, I guess it's the digestive system trying cope.
The thing is I had an iron infusion (Ferrinject) 3 days ago and feel even worse. The exhaustion from flaring and low iron is doing a real number on me just now. My son is doing all the cooking and cleaning for me, which makes me feel really guilty but I can barely walk from room to room. Has anybody else had this problem with flaring and low iron? If so, how long did it take to settle? I'm trying to settle down my flare up but I'm losing too much weight.
Welcome to HW,
Sorry you're having such a hard time right now. Since you're in a bad flare right now, my first question would be regarding your current treatment plan. What type of meds are you taking? Have you had any recent diagnostics? Have you been feeling unwell for long?
As for the iron infusion. It can take a week to several weeks to see optimal results. You'll need follow up blood work to see if your iron stores and hemoglobin are up. In the mean time, you can add some supplemental nutrition to your diet to help you along. Try either Boost or Ensure. There are several others on the market now.
Hope you're feeling better soon. I'm sure some others will post here. There's quite a lot of experience on this forum. You've come to a good place.
