Like something out of a bad sci-fi movie, except it's for real.
Numbers of the normally green tree frogs living in the Chernobyl "exclusion" zone, following the radiation disaster, have mutated into having darker skins, according to the report below.
This is because, according to experts
" ... the mutated frogs' darker skin helped them survive in the exclusion zone following the nuclear accident."
"We were looking for this species near the damaged power plant and we detected many frogs that were just black."
"We know that melanin is responsible for dark or black colouration in many organisms, including frogs."
"At the same time, we know that melanin protects from the damage caused by different types of radiation, from UV to ionizing radiation - the kind at Chernobyl."
Makes one wonder just what other kinds of "mutations" may have taken place in the Chernobyl area. Three-eyed squirrels? Field mice with fangs?
Yep, like a bad sci-fi movie.
However, on a brighter note, since getting IMRT ten years ago, I haven't noticed my own skin getting any darker.

Those darned kids.... I was riding the bus yesterday when the gorgeous woman
beside me started to breast-feed her baby.
The baby wasn’t interested so she said,
“Cmon sweetie, eat it all up or I’ll have to give it
to this nice man beside us.
A little later, the baby was still not interested.
Again, she said Cmon sweetie, eat it all up or
I will have to give it to the nice man beside us.
A few minutes later, I finally said,
Cmon kid Make up your mind
I was supposed to get off four stops ago !
