hi to all I havent posted hear in a long time no coumpter. Well what I need to know is that does anyone out there have a Haital Hernia with their GERD? I do and I dont know that much about it please HELP!!!!!!!!! confused   tHANK YOU pAT.

When I first saw the Gastroenterologist he diagnosed mine with his stethoscope, but did an endoscopy to confirm. He was quite insistent that I take the medication every day (Zoton 30mg) which I do. I did try to reduce it recently but the symptoms kept coming back.
 
He also sent me to a surgeon but after the awful 24hr ph test the conclusion was that I didn't have enough reflux to warrant it.
 
When I first found out I had it I did quite a bit of research and realised that its quite common but I don't let it bother me. There are different types and I have the more rare rolling hiatus hernia. I assume its the reason that I can't get the dosage down as I eat very carefully. The one good side to having it is that it gave me the incentive to get a few pounds off, not that I was very overweight, but now my weight is just right.
 
I will warn you that reading some of the sites http://www.gpnotebook.co.uk/cache/1959788552.htm  could put you right off, but then you could just as easily get knocked down crossing the road.

:-)  yes i have the hernia and gerd and gstritis. it hurts does'nt it.  s take prilosec and it works great, however my hair is falling out, so i went off, but after 10 days off i was in such pain, i got back on last nite, i guess bald beats the pain, what a chioce to have to make.  please try the aloe vera gel before you go much further, it is cheap and acan be gotten at a health food store. it has a pretty benign taste to it, you just swallow it and it is suppose to line your stomach, i tried it it did help for a few days but i went back to prilosec, but that is me, you might have better results.  also there is a product called DGL that you take before meals, also cheap and at healthfood store, certainly worth a shot, but it will take about a month to heal you up. good luck, i am going to have to change my name from dreamgirl to bald eagle soon!!!!

hell-o to all thank you! I just wanted to know what others who had this herna felt like I guess to compare our symptoms? I dont loose any weight with it .And at the end of the day I feel so bloated & hurting its alwful. And I always feel full. I take prevacid I didnt like the other meds. I just always feel like iam 20 months preg! Thank you.
