My pump is implanted in my stomach, more to the right side. If I wear a loose shirt you cannot see the bulge. The pump is a life saver for me. I was on the patch before having the pump put in. I still have pain but not like before. The pain I am having now is tolerable. I am trying to stay away from my oral meds altogether, although I am allowed them for break-thru pain. Monday I spent 9 hrs playing mith my 3month old grandbaby, my arms are nearly useless now and elbows very swollen. This is just from lifting him and carrying him. He is a little chunk. LOL. May have been a premie but you would never know it now. Ask anything you like about my pump. Hugs, Susie

I do have a few more questions about your pump. So I assumed correctly, it is implanted. How do you refill? Is it continously injecting small amounts into your bloodstream? Do not mean to be nosey (well, that is debatable), but this is just fascinating to me.

Hey Flopsie,
Ask away, cause I am still learning too. To fill my pump they will use a needle attached to an IV, they put the needle in the device thru the skin and it is painless. I have a port in my chest for Remicade cause I have terrible veins. Now, I get my Remicade thru th port in my chest, painless, so easy. Ok, back to the pump, they will draw out the morphine thats in the pump and then put new morphine in it. This is done every three months, the nurse says the reason they do it every 3 months is to keep the risk of infection down from having old medicine in the pump. I get a refill in Sept.
My pump releases medicine 24/7, but the dose released is so small, that I am actually receiving less medicine than what I was taking orally. Better for my old liver, I am sure.
If you will recall after I had been home from the hospital a week or so, I felt so good. Then, I had been having some remodeling done, well, my house was in shambles and everything was covered in white dust from them breaking up old ceramic tile. Oh, you cannot believe the mess and dust from that. I thought I would try to start cleaning up some of the mess, well, to make a long story short I over did big time. I ended up hurting worse than ever, had to go to pain mgt dr, got chewed on by him and told I was not the bionic woman, even though I had as much armour as her.
So, his nurse came in the room with this hand held devise, she waves it across my stomach, and on this little screen pops up all the info about me & my pump. Tells date of implant, how much med used, how much left, type of med, they can re-set it to either lower or increase dosage. They even use it to give you what is called a bolus, which is like getting a shot of morphine, which is what they did to me to try to get the pain level down. They also increased my amt to receive to. This little gadget is just way too cool. All info is stored in that thing.
They send you a card in the mail like a credit card to carry at all times. I have one for my port that I carry at all times. Please look at my post about my knees that I posted today. Ask away. Love & hugs, Susie

Straydog, am so sorry you are still feeling bad. Just can't catch a break can you? 
Well, glad you can see those ankles today 
just remember that Lasix is a potassium depleting diuretic, so keep an eye on that, if you are not on daily doses of Potassium, eat potassium rich foods.

Wow, I am envious of anybody that can go to a gym.eeeek two days in a row, I would not be able to move for a year.Is there a particular machine or area of the body you are working on?
