Good Moaning Healing Well V6

Most defintely the flu. I don't know what else it could be. Took my son in twice and was told they could do nothing but ride it out, so the rest of us didn't go in. It's miserable. I'm a touch better at the moment, but my ears are plugged, my nose is very bloody (and it must be dehydration rather that over use, because it hasnt' been used that much.)  I have pain in my ear and if it gets worse, I'll go make sure it is not and ear infection - it comes and goes, but is sharp when it's there.

Kids are still coughing, daughter still has mild fever off and on, hubby still very sick like me. Looks like I may have to cancel my big plans for this next weekend, I am so bummed!

Erin and Ducky - I hope you both feel better soon.

Thanks, I really NEED those hugs...I'm SO miserable!!!!! I spent the afternoon in urgent care, after trying to reach my PCP all day long and finally gave up. My head felt about 4 sizes too big and I lost about 70% of my hearing. My ear is killing me. I have a massive ear infection. My jaw hurts, my throat hurts, my head hurts, the meds the doc gave me have already (after one dose) given me a massive stomach ache, I need to take more meds - fever stuff and cough stuff now, but I don't know if I can handle it. It feels like my ear is going to blow half the time. One med the doc gave me did clear up the stuff balloon head feeling, but now the pain is even more intense but I still can't breath out of my nose!  I'm afraid if I throw up I'll rupture my ear drum....doc said there is a good chance it may happen in general as there is a lot of pressure in there, I hope not! He said not to freak out about it, but it sounds freaky!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..........I hhhhhhhhatttttttttteeeeeeeeeee thhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssssssssssssssssssss! And I have to take my kids back to school in the morning! I don't know if I can do it!!!

Oh Mama... how are you doing today?

A little better. I woke up at midnight feeling better. What a difference one antibiotic makes.

My ear really hurts as well as my jaw and throat. I took the antibiotic today and the gustaffisen (well, whatever it is called - decongestant) and am waiting. Got my daughter to school okay and still have to take my son. I'm tired and in pain still can't hear and the balloon head is back.....but I am guessing I'll survive! tongue

I was supposed to take a trip this weekend (Saturday a.m.) with a friend (my first big trip like this in a very long time, I was so excited!) - but an hour long plane ride sounds very painful to my ear. What is everyone's professional (or personal) opinoin on that - I should probably cancel after all this, right? Even if I feel better I won't be 100% and I'll probably still be wiped out from the flu on top of it and may have a relapse if I over do it.  To get my money back, I have to cancel by tomorrow morning.  sad

Whoa! Mama!  holy toledo.  watch out for that eardrum.  don't bend over to pick things up head first...you know like bending @ the waist?  don't strain to lift anything either.  NO BENDING. NO STRAINING! (even straining on the toilet too!) if ya gotts sneeze...LET IT FLY!!!  no holding back.  all in aiding to prevent any more pressure on the eardrum.

OK....if the ER doc is giving you a warning about the eardrum....be careful with flying!  if you have no more popping/crackling/ringing/shooting pains/fullness in your ear, then by all means go ahead on your trip.  but otherwise?  i would not risk it.  the air pressure causes pressure changes in the eardrum and can spell trouble for you if you go on the flight.

Tough call!  and it's mandatory to make the decision on cancelling by tomorow? argh!!!  cuz it might well be that by the weekend you'll feel a lot better too.

My gut instinct says play it safe.  that's if you're still wanting opinions!  sounds like what you have is something of which you should not fool around or risk.
You must be very disapointed.  How's it going now?

Be careful! {{{{{{{{{{ big hugs }}}}}}}}}}}

Active, Severe RA. Crohns Disease. Chiari Malformation & Right Brain venous anomoly. Emphysema. Rheumatic Lung. MVP and Tricuspid prolapse. Had Lymes disease for 10 years.
Meds: Humira 40mg every 4 days; pred; Pentasa; Imuran; dilaudid; diazepam & too many others.

THanks. I just tried to pick something up off the floor with my head up and it killed. Coughing - as you can imagine - is a nightmare!

I already decided to call the trip off. It's just not worth it, as much as I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to it as it was a bit of a 'once in a lifetime...' situation. Hopefully, I can get a "make up" trip iwth just me and my friend at a later date! tongue   My sister didn't even know I was coming....so, it won't be too disappointing for her. I was going to surprise her (it was dinner and a show for a bachelorette party in Vegas.)

I just woke up from a nap and my fever is back up to 101.6 - so, I'm staying put this weekend. I am not one of those "bounce right back" people anyway, and if I'm in this much misery now, on Saturday I'm NOT going to be skipping to my Lou no matter how much I'd like to think I will be! Plus, I have 2 weeks worth of EVERYTHING to do around here - first I was 24/7 on call with the kids and then this since last Friday. Oy!

By the way, Erin. How are you doing these days? Getting any better yet?

redface  Gee wiz redface as such a bummer it may be, you did do the right thing.  you know your body & "bounce-back" potential and i think you're right.  nothing would be more terrible than being in Vegas or in route to and then being like this or worse...getting sicker.

how's erin these days? eyes well i can walk without a limp, get on the pot & shower!  so that's a bonus.  :-) the knees have stopped throbbing (thank you prednisone injections!) but they get very painful if i'm on them too long. all the other joints are tolerable (for today that is) except the chest wall.
BAD THINGS: mad the gut is angry.  dealing with a bad post obstruction week. on a nice cocktail of liquid draino like meds, LOL, to prevent another one....but UNFORTUNATLEY haven't "gone" since the bowel revolution 3am sunday morning!...so yeah, my back/hips are killer painful from a "major traffic jam" and i look 12 months preggers!  am prepared for another raging anus crisis tonight (plenty of magazines, pillows, desitin @ reach in the bathroom).
i hate the Crohns arthritis on top of RA joint pain! ugh! sad
my Pea (that's my cat for new folks reading) & myself watched "Red Eye" this afternoon.  sucked down "MiraLax ice-tea" with an Imuran chaser. "Red Eye" was very cool.  The dude that stars in it is....eerily attractive? Yeah, quite odd looking, a bit strange and unconventional...but for some reason, is really HOT!
so that's the latest.  riding the waves as they roll in & trying to make the best of things.
take care

I guess you take the good with the bad, such is life they say, right? At least you see the positives and they are good. It's good that your much more mobile without the knee pain. that's awful about the chrons. sad I'm sorry!

I'm really bummed about the trip, but I know it is the right thing....cutting it close like this and my history the last 3 years is just a recipe for a relapse - or worse, pneumonia and a busted ear drum. My sister's wedding is in less than 6 weeks and because of the flu in the household I haven't gotten my daughter's dress yet (we had outing plans when she first got sick) and sis will be PO'd if I screw this up. I have to find myself a dress and get son fitted for tux - so, my point is, the main goal is the wedding and I know she'd much rather I play it safe and get ready for that than join her this weekend. If I came back next week sick again, I wouldn't be able to get those things done in time! But, being a 24/7 mom who doesn't make time for herself, this was that rare opportunity (and excuse) to go out and leave my obligations behind 100% and have FUN - I have yet to really be able to do that not only since becoming a parent 6 years ago, but pretty much since my pain began 10 years ago.

I'm trying to imagine your 92lb frame 12 months prengant! tongue   Oh wait, it's 96 now, right?

Have you had problems with hemerroids with chrons? Being sick, I've aggrivated the very mild case I have by sleeping upright, but it's a sharp internal pain, like horrible cramps that stop you in your tracks and you can't stand up straight. What do you do for that? Is there something external you can do to help internal pain like that? I'm worried because I know the big D is going to hit soon from all these meds and yesterday going to the bathroom was so painful, my body wouldn't let it happen.

Hey CaMama,
Hang in there girl....you're doing the right thing & an opportunity for fun and leaving everything behind will come again...and @ a safe time at that.
YES!!! I am 96 lbs  thank you very much.  A certified HEAVY WEIGHT now.  yeah
Umh...not to poke fun @ 3rd world country children, but ya know those Sally Struthers "feed the children" commercials?...it looks sorta like that!  2 sticks holding up a big distended belly.

Are you meaning the Crohns? or hemorrhoids that you've a mild case of?  From the scope, GI did say I did have some hemorrhoids.  I do get like a "spasm" feeling & yep...passing an 8 day old BM HURTS!!   mad
What can we do about the pain?  Well, adding more fiber & a stool softener will make the BM easier to pass and less painful.  The softer the stool, the less strain & pushing you have to exert.  I use a heat pad to the abdomen for cramps and discomfort and gas/bloating. Unfortunatley GI and proctology is not my forte!  tongue But I am learning as I go along! LOL.
But I know what ya mean by sitting up.  It hurts..especially on long car rides.
take good care. {{{{{{{{{{{{ hugs }}}}}}}}}}}}}}
