My surgeon called and said I will not need a colostomy bag. My surgery for sub-total colectomy is set for June 25th. I am nervous and excited all at the same time.

Good for you for being excited! It's normal to be nervous. I felt both of those things when I had my colectomy also, but I was mostly excited. I think that helped me adjust much faster than most people do after the surgery. I was just so excited to feel better.
Let us know if you have any questions!!

Thanks Stephanie. As time gets closer to D Day, I probably will have questions.
That is great news! I had my sub total colectomy for colonic inertia almost two years ago. Although there are a different set of problems I deal with now, things are much better than before the surgery.

Hello i just saw this post and have questions for anyone who has had it. I was diagnosed with colonic interia last week. I have read nothing but horror story's on the internet about more problems afterward and it not curing the constipation. My surgeon said that there is 0 chance that I will need a bag and that BMs should be 2-3 times a day and no diet restrictions. he said the only risks are the same as other major surgerys. Can anyone comment here on theres went and if they are 100%. thanks my suregery is schedule for next may because I can afford any down time right now.
Hi Castin this is an old thread, so suggest you post a new thread of your own. Welcome to the forum though.. it's a fantastic group of folk and sure someone will be along to help you soon.
