We had a follow up appt today with my sons GI doc. The biopsy showed acute infectious colitis. The doctor said he must have had a really bad stomach bug. The ova and parasite stool tests all came back negative too. Also, he had a 3 day EEG last week to make sure he doesn't have seizure disorder. That came back negative too. My son has autism(PDD-NOS) and bilateral hearing loss. At least this week I can cross two more things off the list. I'm doing the happy dance. But I'm hoping all of this happiness transfers to my rectum and my proctitis can eventually calm down. lol!
Thanks to all of you for your concern, support and prayers for my son. He has so many issues and I was really worried about him. I'm gonna try and not sweat the the small stuff of life and have gratitude for all of the good news and blessings from today.
Glad to hear its good news. What a relief for you. Hope you can start feeling better yourself. :)

So happy for you. I hate when our "babies" are sick. I have two boys with autism spectrum disorder and I cannot imagine them dealing with UC too. You and me both on the proctitis sxs. Go away already!!!
Chrissy, what a relief on both counts.
It's always great to hear good results.
Did they say how they will treat the acute infectious colitis? I would guess antibiotics, no?
Rx meds didn't help me. But 4.5 mg LDN +Paleo diet +supplements=REMISSION.Protein shakes w/almond milk,Maca powder,L-Glutamine,D-Ribose,chia seeds.VSL#3,K2,VIt. Great news Chrissy! So glad to hear that he will be okay. What course of treatment will they do? How long will it take? Hope you can now take some time out for yourself so you can recover as well.

Hi Chrissy..good to hear this is treatable. What med did the doc prescribe for your son?
Is he on good quality probiotics?
Curious if you use sign language with him considering his bilateral hearing loss?
Did you have to do stool testing and will you have to do it again?
I wouldn't call this small stuff....
q
*Heather* I give suggestions, do with them what you will.
Status: ...Asacol 3 @ 2x daily; Salofalk enema @ 3rd night (nightly/ flares, tapered/maintenance)
~diagnosed January 1989 UC (proctosigmoiditis)
~Bentylol 20mg as needed; Zantac 150mg; Pulmicort/Airomir (asthma);Effexor XR 37.5 (depression)
~vitamins/minerals/supplements; Probiotics....(RenewLife Ultimate Flora Critical Care+Primadophilus Reuteri capsules @ bedtime)
~Metamucil capsules 6 twice daily with meals; Vitamin D 4500 IU
~URSO for PBC(or PSC?) 500mg X 2 daily (LFTs back to NORMAL!!)
My doc's logic.. "TREAT (FROM)BOTH ENDS" worth it !!!
