My dad is 71 and his right knee has been getting worse for about three years. He can still walk the dog but he has stopped the longer walks he used to love, and he is up most nights with it. The surgeon has now said a full replacement is the sensible next step and we are trying to work out the timing. What I would really like to hear is what people wish they had asked before going ahead - anything about the anaesthetic, the physio, how long you were off driving, or how you knew it was the right moment rather than waiting another year.
