Hi yellowluna,
First off I'd like to say that I don't think that your mother should have went off her meds, even though she seemed much better.
That is the worst thing that she could have done. She was feeling better because the meds were working, now the symptoms could come back at any time twice as bad. She shouldn't have gone off the meds without seeing her Doc. first.
Second-epilepsy can trigger bi-polar and visa-versa.
Signs to look for re bi-polar are listed in the post reply below to AuSsieG1rl.
Hi Alabama.
These are some of the signs to look for re bi-polar/manic depression. I copied this from one of my previous posts. I hope there is something in here that can be of use for you.
Your friend could be showing signs of manic depression, it is always triggered by season change.(late Sept.,Oct., and spring around Easter weekend) Other signs that you should watch for are unusuall behaviour such as: depression.....suicidal thoughts........aggression, anger, lack of motivation or initiative (could be why he can't hold a job) and/or violence......rapid mood swings..........always talking religion(saw the Lord).........rapid cycling (always talking about things that arn't making any sense(won't shut up)).........Dual personality.......kind hearted (more than usuall).........urge to want to spend money on things he doesn't need or urge to spend other people's money.......poor sleeping habits.....poor eating habits......these are some of the signs to look for.
If he is showing more than one of these symptoms than he should be reffered to a Doctor.
Good Luck
Randy (Ontario, Canada)
I would say that if he is displaying more than one of these symptoms than it's POSSIBLE that he may be manic.
