I have a scope on Wednesday this week, after that I’m going to try Wellbutrin. I hope it doesn’t give me anxiety like people says it has for them and I don’t need to lose weight either. Someone dub it the happy, horny , weight loss pill on another forum. I am sad a lot, cry a lot, up and down a lot, anxiety a lot, so I probably need something anyways beside Xanax, which I take occasionally.
I have another supplement called Mood Boost I bought on Amazon, I do g want to start anything before my scope. I’m on two antibiotics right now as it, cipro/flagyl combo.
Waiting on my stool sample to come back, just checking a ton of bacteria.
He will biopsy for CMV, herpes, virus which I asked for in my scope in October !!!
So two things left to try, fmt and this antidepressant or mood boost.
UC since '05, now in '15 Mayo Clinic say Chrons/colitis, U of M '17, ulcer in 30% of colon, of those ulcer 75% are ulcerated. No biologics work. Rethinking a game plan with doctor, whom I'm not impressed with.
Have you ever had any documented inflammation outside of your colon (esp. ileum)?
I really doubt you have Crohn's.
DX Ulcerative Pancolitis 2003. Subsequent flares limited mostly to left side
Flare every 2-3 years that is bad enough to require Pred.
9x Salofalk tabs, Sulfa free Rowasa nightly and Canasa each morning
Probiotics: Florastor Fiber: Psyllium.
Back in remission after getting rid of c-diff with Vanco, and a quick blast of Prednisone to cool things down.

Try not to stress over trying Wellbutrin. We all know the horror stories we can read online about any medication.
You have another post going about the dr rxing Flagyl & Cipro, although you tested negative on infections at this point. Keep in mind Cipro is widely known for potentially causing c-diff. I would ask the dr for something different.
I hope you get to feeling better.

Hi there I've been on Wellbutrin for a bit now and my experience is that it didn't increase my anxiety (and I'm anxiety prone) and I was able to gain weight. Hope this helps.
UC since 2002
Flaring since March 2018
Currently on Simponi, Wellbutrin 150 mg, Zoloft 50 mg, plant based calcium
CT scan on 4/18 showed pancolitis
Dexa scan on 10/09/2017 showed decreased bone density but some improvement in the spine

An antidepressant may initially increase your anxiety while you adjust. I started cymbalta a while back and while my body was adjusting, I had terrible anxiety. It settled down and now is working great so just give it some time if you feel it is not working for you and want to throw in the towel.
My personal experience was there was an initial week or two heavy adjustment period of crazy mood swings, then an additional 2 months of feeling a little funny, then several more months to a year for me to feel 100 percent normal. My anxiety is way less now than before I started the medication and my overall mood is better. I hope it works for you.
Diagnosed Proctosigmoiditis (UC) February 2015
Hiatial Hernia w/ GERD
Current Meds: Lialda 1.2gm 2x daily (discontinued for now), duloxetine, rowasa as needed, VSL3 occasionally, One a Day Multi-Vitamin
Did SCD for about 2 years but lost willpower. Want to get back to it at some point.

I don't know if Wellbutrin will increase your horniness but it is supposed to be one antidepressant that doesn't lessen your sex drive.
At the very least you should be taking generous amounts of probiotics with the antibiotics.
You should do some research on some natural alternatives for stress. I regularly take fish oil for cardiovascular health and UC but it is known to also help those with stress. Same with vitamin D which I do not see mentioned in your signature.
Here is some good news about the herb ashwagandha:
www.lifeextension.com/Magazine/2018/8/Fight-Chronic-Stress-at-the-Biological-Level/Page-01
A study of patients with chronic stress was conducted using ashwagandha extract (300 mg) twice a day for 60 days. The result was a significantly reduced score on stress assessment scales. Ashwagandha also reduced blood levels of the stress hormone cortisol.
Animal studies suggest that extracts from ashwagandha have anxiety-reducing effects comparable to those produced by such common prescription drugs as diazepam (Valium®) and lorazepam (Ativan®).
Edit: I see that the Mood Boost you ordered on Amazon contains ashwagandha along with some other good stuff. And it doesn't have junk like magnesium stearate or maltodextrin, etc. I think you discovered a really good supplement.
Male, born 1951, DX IBD Feb08. No meds, allergic to Mesalamine. Food diary instead of SCD or Paleo.
When needed VSL#3DS sprinkled over powdered psyllium seed is very helpful.
Lactobacillus Reuteri (NCIMB 30242), Culturelle, Saccharomyces boulardii.
Fish oil, curcumin, extra D3, magnesium, multivitamin, glutamine when gut repair needed.
Resistant Starch and lots of fruit & vegetables (but no cruciferous), No Gluten, no soda, no HFCS, no shellfish. No processed foods with maltodextrin, sorbitol, polysorbate80 or carrageenan. No GMO foods saturated with Roundup.
Nature created all of the locks, therefore Nature has all of the keys

Wellbutrin did absolutely nothing for me when I tried it for 6 weeks years ago. No side effects...no effect at all.
34 years old; diagnosed UC March 2007.
Latest scope: 9-29-16: "mild-to-moderate" chronic and active proctosigmoiditis (infectious cause). Battled reoccuring campylobacter & c diff. Oct-Dec 2016. Healthy since Dec. 25, 2016 until I started smoking May 2018. 25 mg pred. Trying to re-quit smoking. Maintenance meds: Delzicol, 6, 2xday; Rowasa nightly; Singular & Allegra for allergies; Xanax

okay dokie, well maybe it's not the key
I just read some good things about it for UC remission.

I didn't try it for UC. Tried it for anxiety/depression. Antidepressants for most people are nothing more than placebo. If you look up studies on this, you will find them.

I took Wellbutrin for a couple of years because I was having severe panic attacks about death or the thought of dying. Never had any type of stress, anxiety or panic attack before but when I was around the age of 38 it started. I was very heavy/overweight and started thinking about my mortality and suddenly I would wake up and could not breathe because I was scared to die and cease to exist. I would scream out and start saying "I don't want to die" over and over, until the attack passed. My wife was scared for me and it freightened her to the point of tears. I finally told my General doctor and she put me on Wellbutrin. My panic attacks stopped almost immediately. I also felt overall better, had more sexual energy and slept better than I had in a long time. Although to be honest I didn't know I wasn't sleeping good until I took this medication.
After about 2 years I went off them and to this day I never had another panic attack. Been of it about 3 years now but to me at the time it was a miracle drug. My wife said even my temper subsided an I didn't get mad at things like I used to.
So don't be afraid to try it out, you can always stop using it if you have negative side effects. From what I remember it was cheap as well and didn't cost too much.

Having UC really increased my anxiety. My doctor put me on 100mg of Wellbutrin. It's really helping with my sluggish tiredness and bouts of anxiety driven sadness.
No side effects or issues with it over here. I really love it. about two years ago I was on a higher dose of it along with Lexapro. I 100% do not recommend. It wasn't a good time.
With this low dose, I don't feel as if it's really impacting me mentally so severely. It's very mild and just a little nudge for me to get into the right direction.

TAM, any time I was on an antidepressant, my drs always told me it would take six weeks for the medication to become fully effective. So, if you are a lucky one that responds sooner great, but don't throw in the towel without giving it a reasonable amount of time to kick in. I hope it works for you.
