IBS -- can't sleep

Hello Everyone,
I have been told that i have the IBS.
I have the manageable pain before and after poop and diarrhea on and off for several years.

What it's really bother me is sleeping.
A lot of nights, after i lay down, i have cramping/burning in my bellybutton/stomach area. It really bother my sleeping.

The doctor let me tried lots of medicines: anti-acid, ranitidine, dicyclomine.
Not help too much.

Anybody experience this? any good suggestions?

Thanks a lot,
Lisa
I have IBS symptoms since early November. I had bubbling in my intestines and stomach. I did not sleep one minute for seven whole weeks! I tried herbal meds like Passionflower and Valerian also Melatonin at first. I tried Z-Quill ALL DID NOT WORK! I made the mistake of seeing nurse practitioners in a walk in clinic that gave me Dicyclomine(Bental) and then Trazadone(a anti-anxiety drug that supposedly has the side effect of Sleep). They neglected to tell me that Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants CANNOT prescribed Federally Controlled Substances like real sleeping meds like Benzodiazapines! So finally after 7 whole weeks a real M.D. finally prescribed Generic Restoril(Temazapam). I took it. My eyes closed and I got 5hrs of sleep. After 29 nights of Temazapam with 5-7 hrs of sleep a night(with restored sleep patterns) I took the Passionflower, Valerian and melatonin instead. They sudennly worked. Now some nights I require nothing for sleep. Other nights I just use melatonin.
