i was wondering if there is a way to get anti-deppresant without having health insurance?
i'm poor an can't afford them either. is there a way to get them free?
i have a chemical imbalance & deal with clinical depression. i feel like i'm stuck in a deep dark pit and everything good is outside the pit...i don't know what to do...what are the steps?
Hi sullen, I wanted to welcome you to Healing Well forum first off. There are so many supportive people here always willing to help and lend advice, I do hope you continue to return.
Do you have a primary care physician that you go to or psychiatrist? If so, you can speak to them about your lack of insurance and most times the doctor is willing to provide samples of an antidepressant. They get them for free from the drug companies anyway. This is mostly going to depend on what you are prescribed though. Also, now most of the major companies that make antidepressants are doing prescription assistance where they will either pay part or all of the cost of your medication depending on your income level. This I do believe is for people who don't have insurance coverage. They are making it very easy now for people to get help for depression who cant afford the medications.
Hi there I wanted to add something. I found a couple free medical clinics here, and also the University that is a few miles away. I have talked to them and am keeping them in my "back pocket" persay, just in case I decide that not taking meds is too much for me to handle. All I did was a seach on the internet for "free medical clinics" and then put my state. All states might not be the same, and the clinics might not be the same either. But these ones assured me that if their doctor thought I needed the meds they would provide them.shynsassy@healingwell.net
I just wanted to add my own two cents. Most large cities in the US have free clinics that provide free medication or have a sliding scale as Shynsassy mentioned above. There are also quite a few prescription drug cards out there that can be purchased on an annual basis that give folks who are uninsured or underinsured a discount on certain brand name and generic drugs. Hope it helps! :)
i don't know if this helps, but i saw a commercial the other day for testing a new drug prescribed for bipolar disorder...they were looking for people to try it and they offered free screenings and medical care while on the drug and the like...it's just a thought, but you might want to look into something like that if nothing else works. maybe google it?
