I was wondering how most of you found out that you had hep c. Did you have symptoms, if so, which ones?
I found out in 1996 when i went to get a routine blood test. I got it from tainted blood in 1988. I have had no symptoms except for fatigue.
I'm starting tx for 48 weeks on Tuesday. How did you find out?

I was having symptoms of severe fatigue beginning around '91. I also had elevated liver enzymes. My PMD at the time blew both things off. In '92, I had changed doctors and was still complaining of fatigue. My liver enzymes were still elevated. This new doctor said it was either mono or hepatitis, and ordered tests for both. I came back positive for hep C. I was referred to a GI doc who did a liver biopsy in March of '93. The biopsy showed that my hep C is chronic active.

Hi Restless,, when my hubby was diagnosed with hep c it was during blood work at a walk in clinic clinic when he & his mother got shingles. His only symptom he said was being tired all the time. This was in 2000. My thoughts & prayers are with you. later....

They just told me in nov. that I had Chronic Hep C with a very high viral load (8 million) after having 5 years of testing and about 5 different doctors to see what was wrong. I had so much blood work done its unreal., I had to really complain this last time and told my doctor that I had for 2 years that I just don't feel right. I had a fever a lot too and I got the flu all the time.....I'm fatigue, I have headaches, My legs always hurt and my liver was elevated for who knows how long. They told me at my obgyn that my liver was inflammed after my daughter 15 years ago. Then I told him I use to drink and my dad had hep in the service. Thats when my doc decided to do one more blood test and yep thats what it was. Well just had my 12th shot last night still pretty ache and this rain isn't helping.
