When I first started getting these weird symptoms a year ago, they were accompanied by these blisters on my hands and feet. These pictures aren't too bad. They're usually worse. I'm just waiting on another round of them to show up and make my hands look horrible for a few more weeks.
The closest clinical diagnosis I've discovered is called Dihydrosis. They start as tiny fluid blisters under the skin and group together to form a large one and then surface. This is what my finger and thumb look like after they've surfaced. The first time I got these I could see them coming and they were dark red and deep in my skin. They then rose to the top. Several doctors thought I had hand foot and mouth disease that turned into Mennigitis. Now i find all this time it's caused by Lyme somehow.
I can't find anything online that says Lyme is connected. And the only cause I can find in the list for Dihydrosis is stress... It's so annoying. So unattractive and embarrassing. I just tell people I work with my hands a lot and the skin is soft
It's especially embarrassing when you're dating a new girl. But luckily she understands what I'm going through now.
Hi Hamburg, I'm sorry to say, that looks like what I deal with - only it's my feet that are affected. I'm thinking mine is a rash from chronic Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. Although admittedly there is very little info on the chronic form of RMSF, it might give you a lead on some info.
I've had this for years now, and it's never left my left foot, although it did affect my right foot for quite a while as well. It's appeared on my hands for short periods, but never stayed long. I've never found anything that makes it go away, although I do know some things that have made it worse - heat and humidity! The warmer my feet are. the more they "break out" and of course any stress makes them flare also. It being on your hands, try to be really careful what you subject your hands to as far as any chemicals and such.
Being with someone that can understand at least some of what you are going through can really make a difference! Jesus I hope I don't have that. I don't even know how to get a test for that. But I never had a crazy rash. I only had hives at one point. I've had all the other symptoms these things share but no rash. So maybe i dont have that. Maybe thats just my bodys way of dealing with these things. I have them on my feet too but only when I'm really low or stressed. It's usually just my thumbs and pointer fingers.
The "rash" for Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever is those little blisters. A Western Blot can pick up a chronic infection from Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever - at least it did for me after I had gone through some treatment.
When you are really low or stressed is when symptoms from these infections are worse. Are you seeing a LLMD? If so, then get those pictures in to him/her so that they can see this as well. Better yet, next time you have those little blisters and an appt at the same time, be sure to show them to the doc and explain it.
