Hello everyone. I had a routine mammogram a few weeks ago that showed some microcalcifications on the right breast, my call back is tomorrow for U/S and 3 d mammogram. I read that microcalcifications can be normal with aging, and it will be the pattern and distribution of the microcalcifications that help clarify if it is anything to worry about. Even though 60-80% of the callbacks are benign, I’m still freaking out. I’m just really scared. I don’t know why I am so petrified. I think it’s fear of the unknown and worry about worst case scenario. Just wanted to share my anxiety here. I only have to get through one more day until my callback. Is unilateral microcalcifications more likely to be benign or not? I’m going to go take a walk. I’m just spinning out on it. Thank goodness they will let me know results right away tomorrow morning. My eye is twitching! Lol. 🤪
Hi backinthesaddle, you reaction is normal. I got the same phone call many years ago. After having magnification views done, they confirmed nothing to be alarmed out. I continued with yearly mammograms & also magnification views for a few years.
Good luck with your results.
