Hi teresa, i'm relieved to hear that Mark is Ok & back at home.A lot of times it seems like they send us home too soon but I guess they know out of danger & stable is about as good as it's going to get. Hopefully the encephalopathy he is still exhibiting will be controlled once again soon.He will be much more comfortable at home anyway & will probably do better with those he loves around him. Less stress for Mark.Liver does screw up our sugar levels bad & can even cause us to be come diabetic as it can no longer break sugars down.I hope this comes back into control for him.Yes Mark would take this incident hard. It's pretty scary waking up & not knowing where you are, how you got there & why etc. Young Michael is right, God will take care of his daddy. I hope you are doing ok too. Hi teresa, Glad Mark is home and hope the blood sugar levels out. It's a pity they can't keep patients in hospital a few mkore days, until they are really well enough to go home but I guess there is always someone waiting for that empty bed the minute a patient is discharged. Take care.

Hi All,
Marks, Blood Sugars are staying high. This was the main reason I felt he was released too soon. He has never taken any medication for his diabetes, it has always been diet controlled. His blood sugars never have run this high! They have been between 213-422, since coming home. They should have monitored the insulin dosage and blood sugars, a day or 2 since he is new to the insulin. I am just feeling frustrated over this.

Hi Teresa,I'm sorry to hear Mark's sugar levels remain high. I hope they return to normal soon. I can imagine how stressful & frustrating this must be for you.Does Mark have a follow-up soon? I'm sorry Mark's blood sugars remain high. Is he eligible for home heallth services? They could come out and monitor his levels.

Hi Ma,

There is really no need for home health yet. We are monitoring the blood sugars ourselves which is three times a day, we keep a log on it. We have a couple of appointments next week, it will need to be adjusted, the dosage is just not enough. They will probaly get a call in the morning, from me! Love you and Pa!

Hi Theresa, I'm glad to know Mark is doing better and is home. As always, you're in my thoughts and prayers. Take things one day at a time, that's the best thing any of us can do for our loved ones going through these health crisis. Take care and be strong.

My brother was a diabetic which they discovered when he was 4 yrs old,,so I have seen how frustrating adjustments can be..good luck and please do call he drs,,:hugs: hang in there

Hi Trish,

Mark's saw his primary care physician yesterday and he has decided to put Mark on humolog with a sliding scale before each meal and lantus at bedtime. So we will see how this does on the blood sugars. I am keeping my fingers crossed! It is very frustrating, but I can handle it! Thanks!:)
