How do I know if I am having a migraine, stress headache or caffeine or what? I have nausea with it, throbbing pain, sensitive to lights and sound. When I had some caffeine along with a vicodin, it went somewhat away, but still having some symptoms.

Hi Megan, welcome to Healing Well. It sounds like migraine to me! Some people do well with caffeine and it helps in aborting an attack, unfortunately I do not. You say your pain is throbbing, is your pain just on one side of your head. The nausea and sensitivity to light and sound makes it sound like migraine too. Might be a good idea to get it checked out! Caffeine can be a double edged sword...while for some it is helpful (in small doses) to abort a migraine if you have too much and then none at all you might be putting yourself into caffeine withdrawl and that would cause a migraine.
I have figured after all these years that ANYTHING can cause them!!!
See a DR. and get a diagnosis...they will be able to treat better with a proper/accurate diagnosis.

Hi everyone! Thank you for the replies! I have the pain right on the front of my forehead, sometimes down my neck too. It usually lasts for a few hours and taking 5 Motrin usually do not work, its when I take a vicodin the pain usually lessens. I really think too that anything can cause them. After it went away, I was cleaning, using this new spray to clean the fridge and BOOM the headache came back. So I know I will never use that spray again!!!
