Need Help.......going to see my Internist........

Hello,
I am going to see my internist, as I am not getting anywhere with my GI doc.  I would like to know what tests are out there that are non invasive, but could possibly tell what is going on?  Due to my rare bleeding disorder, non invasive is better than invasisve.

Thats a tough one. Most GI tests are very uncomfortable and invasive. Stool samples can be done from home and the doctor can check for all types of things (blood, parasites, etc) If you are looking for a test where there is no instrument placed in your body as with an colonoscopy, there are barium tests (CT scan, barium enema) that are xray images. These can tell a lot however do not give the doctor (or yourself) the benefit of taking biopsies if needed.

Ok. Colonoscopy tells more though......right? No biopsies.......?

Yes, colonoscopy will tell more and your doctor will determine if biopsies are necessary. I would discuss your options and concerns however before deciding on what to do.

Thank You for your recommendation, but due to my bleeding disorder the best thing for me, is to do non invasive. Having a biopsy is invasive for me.

I have a doctors appointment with my internist on Monday, so I will discuss everything with him.

Well..........what a waste of a copay devil
 
I was able to talk to my Internist, but he states I need to go in and have a face to face talk with my gi doctor.  He also thinks I have IBS, but states no true test will dx. 
 
I cried, cried and cried...........cuz I am scared confused

Hi JHP,

I know how frustrating this is for you. BUT, don't be scared. If all you have is "just IBS" then at least you don't have anything more serious (like IBD, etc.). There's a lot you can try.... Eating healthy, probiotics, calcium, exercise, etc.
Unfortunately, in order for you to get an accurate diagnosis you should probably have the invasive tests. Maybe most importantly the colonoscopy. But this definitely is something you should discuss with your GI (given your bleeding disorder).

Thanks Sweetie! I am going to make an appointment with my GI doctor, once I get back from my mini vacation. I want a face to face and I am not going alone!

I just never heard of IBS being full, bloating, nausea and then watery stool....then regular? I had two attacks within 10 days apart? I had the cramping and D like it wouldn't come out before....on occasion, then the C and now........it is frustrating. I am learning about my diet and am making changes, but it will take time.

JHP, those are the exact characteristics of IBS... inconsistent bowel habits and gas. I think the nausea comes hand in hand with those two, but I haven't seen it listed as a symptom.
