My daughter has been referred to a neurologist. What will he do that's different from our regular doctor?

hopefully, the neuro will be better able to help her. a gp might see one migraine a day or week for that matter- a neuro prob sees many a day.
i am glad she is going to a specialist. here's hoping she gets some relief.

The neuro specializes in the brain and head, which gives them much better qualifications to really figure out whats going on. My gp had no clue what to do about my headaches, and I am so glad I finally asked for a referral to a neuro - they knew just what to do!

my first neuro appt consisted of me going over my migraine diary and telling him what i had tried, what worked, etc. they he had be go for an mri. he started me on topamax and gave me tons of samples of triptans (which unfortunately i cannot take due to an allergic reaction).

Dx: BPII (and everything that comes along with it), BPD? (pdoc trying to figure that out), Chronic Migraines (that means 2-4/week)
Current Rx: Lamictal, Lyrica, Depakote ER, Seroquel (prn), Xanax (prn), Vicoprofen (prn), NuvaRing
Past Rx: Prozac, Paxil/CR, Lexapro, Cymbalta, Ambien, Wellbutrin XL, Effexor/XR, Topamax, Neurontin, Trazadone, Klonopin, array of triptans (allergic)

Thanks for the info! I'm looking forward to getting her in to see him and hopefully get her some relief. She did see the eye doc and he picked up some slight eye problems that could be causing her headaches, but he suggested waiting to see what the neurologist thinks.
