I am new to this forum but just thought I would post here cuz I have some questions. For my 25th birthday (March 11th) I will be having my FIRST colonoscopy and endoscopy done. I have already had lab work to rule out sprue (colitis) and it was negative. I know something is wrong because I have very loose watery stools most days since 2001. I have MS but that will usually cause constipation not liquid stool!
I have read some on IBS and to be honest I am in total denial about the potentially devistating effect of this (although I have had stool incontinece at work!). What changes did you make in your life after you were diagnosed?
I know there are still plenty of other options out there about what I could have. This one sounds like the one to have cuz it is the most treatable, yet there is no real treatment... Plus a lot of the really nasty diagnosises carry along with weight loss and that has NOT been a problem for me! I can stool 7 times a day for a month and still gain 10 pounds!
I guess I am starting to get anxious about my visit coming up and need to vent! Any thoughts and info would be great!

I think the biggest change for most of us would be our diet.... It was for me anyway. I eat healthier now. Also, the anti-social behavior. That really sucks. Sometimes I just can't seem to get myself to commit to going out. I'm afraid I'll have an attack while out. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hermit. I just don't like to take long trips where I'm stuck. I like to drive myself so I'm able to leave if I have to.
Have your docs given you anything to try and control the D? Are you on probiotics or vitamins? Calcium is great for controling D. You may want to give that a whirl.
In the meantime, before your scopes, try to eat healthy. Stay away from fatty foods and probably raw fruits and veggies too (those are hard on the gut).
I'm sure others will be around soon to give some input.

thank you for the toic and the suggestions! I have taken OTC meds and tried to change my diet in many diffret ways over the years. I have even lived off of cheese for a couple of days! Vitamins aren't so good for me to take (vit C and B vitamins) with my MS. Calcium is something I think I should take more seriously though for my MS and my bowel! I didn't know that calcium had an effect for bowel related conditions!
