Hello and welcome!

I moved your post to make a new introduction thread for you. Since the post that you tagged on to was so old...I didn't want you to get lost in the shuffle!:)

I am sorry that you are going through all of this. It is really awful to have these scary symptoms and panic attacks, I know.

Firtst of all, have you seen your doctor, just to be on the safe side...and to rule out any physical cause for the things that you described. This is a smart precaution to take, even though it is most likely anxiety.

My other question is...what if aything have you done in seeking help for anxiety management? Therapy and/or medication are both commonly used and recommended for treatment.

You can talk to your doctor about a therapy referral, and medication as well.

Keep talking with us too! We are a supportive group who knows what you are going through, and are here to support you in this!:)

Talk to you soon,

Hi Kookie,

Sorry you have been having anxiety :( I know that panic and anxiety sucks and is not fun having at all.

A few things that have helped me:

1. Breathing deeply and exhaling slowly, this helps relax my brain, it sends more oxygen in my head (lol) and causes my body to slow down.

2. Relax the muscles in your body. Often when nervous the body tightens up. I concentrate on relaxing every muscle in my body; starting from the top of my head to my feet in which I do this 3-4 times.

3. Positive self-talk. I have learned that I talk negatively to myself, my self talk would say things like "your panicking, be scared. Something is wrong." (I'm not schizo. lol but internal thoughts is my main problem). I have literally forced myself into thinking more positive, this does take time to do. When my mind wants to act up I try to counteract it by first reminding myself to be my own best friend, then proceeding to positive self-talk.

4. Writing. I write a LOT. I first started writing in a daily journal, every time I felt anxious I would write down my thoughts, the hour of the thought, what I was doing when the thought happened, and why I thought my anxiety happened. Writing has actually helped me out the most and helps keep me calm. Something else that I started to write was positive future events. I wrote down a story about my future life, everything in it had to have a positive outcome and had to be positive, this was to force my mind to think positively, and after awhile of thinking positive your brain starts a habit of doing so.

5. I know this sounds silly but I have a few phrases that I repeat to myself when I feel nervous:

"Why do we fall (sir)? So we might learn to pick ourselves up." Alfred Pennyworth. (From Batman)
"Calm your storm" Lo. (From Clash of the Titans)

I also have another quote I repeat from the movie 300 but it has slipped my mind :(

I do hope this helps. :) Best wishes.
