Odd question

Well, in the context of IBD maybe not so odd but it still feels a little weird to ask it, lol! Occasionally I will feel urgency and expect to have some D when I go to the bathroom, but instead it’s actually what seems to be a bunch of air quickly forcing a BM out. Does anyone else get this? I’m just assuming it’s IBD related. 🤷‍♀️

Not odd at all. I get that when flaring for sure, but I don't normally have diarrhea anymore unless I ste something wonky. But there's a different feeling when flaring than when not flaring. I have gas most days depending on what I eat, and if Im ready to have a bm in the mornings, , gas will help force out stool.
Are you having a more formed stool with with that type of event?

I have had this very thing happen on occasion. One of my typical symptoms is tenesmus so the signals can get confusing. I chalk it up to whatever IBS is in addition to IBD inflammation. Intestinal conditions can be out of whack depending on more than one factor on any given day I think.
UP up to recto-sigmoid - dx’ed 2014.
Current meds - Tremfya 200mg, 4.8g Lialda, hydrocortisone enemas (failing all of these!) Pepcid 20mg, minoxidil 2.5mg, tadalafil 5mg

When this happens it’s what I not-so-affectionately call “piecy poop” because it’s like a pile of small pieces, but it all comes pretty much at once. I don’t know if it counts as D since the pieces have some form to them. 🤷‍♀️ I was having that consistency most often before my last scope which showed no signs of UC. Then I had a few months of perfectly normal every day (1 completely formed BM a day) except when a food didn’t agree with me. It was amazing. But now for the last few weeks I am having this again. Not sure why, but I had stopped taking my Lialda and probiotic so I’ve been back on those for a couple of weeks now and will not go off them again.

I have long believed I have IBS in addition to the IBD. I feel like something else has to be going on if I have issues even when I’m in complete remission. And like you said, it can be a variety of things, which makes it difficult to pinpoint and address. So frustrating.

Piecy poop could be from gas, food intake or very very mild inflammation. I suggest not stopping the Lialda, as you will have that consistency. Yes, I had it today...lots of gas yesterday from what I ate. I also did the enema last night which could have been part of the issue. My stress levels are very high as well from the extraordinary hip pain Ive been in since forever...waiting for replacement. Yesterday was a weepy day. 😔 Plus My phone has rearranged my pictures...I was so pissed off from that 😤

I’m so sorry to hear that. I hope you get some relief soon! I have also had some additional stress/anxiety the past few weeks as we’ve hatched some chicks, and as silly as that sounds I’m prone to worry and it’s our first time hatching and raising chickens, so it’s been a bit more than I anticipated. (Fun, too, though!) And I also wonder sometimes how my stage in life as pre-menopausal might be affecting things as hormonal changes have often seemed to give me issues as well. It’s like a constant game of Clue. 🤪

Nat... how exciting for you😎 I, as well, would be terribly stressed waiting and raising chickens and chicks.
Why are you raising chickens? One good thing,... there's lots of info online. Of course, more stress of finding reputable info.
