Optic Nystagmus

Does anyone suffer from this? Through all the docs I've seen one was an eye doc and the other an opthamologist. I told both of them I was having vision problems. My eyes would get tired easy and blurry then hurt. I can't even where my contacts anymore. Neither of them noticed that I have a twitchy left eye. The NP I saw last week caught it right away. I was wondering if this is common. I can feel when it does it.

Thanks,

Lysha

My presenting symptom was nystagmus. I have never had optic neuritis. However, my nystagmus was severe and anyone walking down the street that looked at me could see it. There was about a week I say I was "blind" from the diplopia and nystagmus. I did see 20/20 but I also say 20 of everything.

Hope this helps, good luck to you

Yes, I have that. Fortunately it's relatively mild, and I'll go for long periods of time without any problem, but if I get overtired, or ill, or otherwise experience a flare, it'll occur again.

Would this dx play a key element in getting me dx?

I don't know that it's a "key" element, but certainly you should let your doctor know of the diagnosis, if you haven't already. Here is a web page that talks about it: http://www.lowvision.org/nystagmus.htm

Seems like "late" or "adult-onset" nystagmus is caused by brain injury or MS....at least according to this page...

WOW!! That explained a lot of the problems I have been having with my eyes. Maybe now I can explain it better to my doc. I always just said my eyes were tired and understood.

Thanks, uppity!
