Post Fundoplication meals for work

I am due to go back to work in just under 2 weeks. I'm struggling to see what meals I could make that I can snack on at work, as sandwiches are a big no-no.

Do any members on this forum, who have previously had the Nissan procedure, have any ideas for snacks/meals I can bring to work?
It depends largely on what kind of diet your doctor has put you on. Are you still on mush or will you be on soft foods by then?

Either way, I found that having pudding cups, some baby food, and canned soup at work (assuming your can keep the pudding and baby food cold) were enough to feed on during the work day. Lots of small meals -- don't eat a single "lunch."
If you are up to soft foods, I recommended buying those little microwave cups of mac and cheese or pasta. I ate those for a while. The nice thing is, they are small, so they aren't the size of a normal meal.

If you aren't up to soft food yet, then the cream of chicken cup of soups are good. I ate those too. You can get them in a microwaveable container.
I'll still be on soft foods by then.

Good suggestions, i will definitely try the microwave mac and cheese, pudding cups and/or baby food.

A good point was also made around having several small luches - i was going to have one lunch at "dinner time" but will now snack in morning.

Any other suggestions for a soft food diet?

I think itll go something like this....

* breakfast - porridge @ 7am
* small snack - baby food, banana or pudding cup @ 10.30am
* small lunch - mac & cheese @ 1.30pm
* small snack - chocolate @ 4.30
* tea time @ 6.45pm

Make sure you get enough nutrients. I've been reading a LOT lately about dumping syndrome, etc. Make sure your little meals have some protein or a little fat or some complex carbohydrates. Not only better for you, but slower to digest, but not too difficult to digest, so you keep your energy up and don't get hit with wicked bouts of diarrhea.

Chew everything until it's a watery paste in your mouth and take your time eating.

I've been really lucky - I can work at home through some of this recovery. I'm about 8 week post-recovery.

Good luck! I'd love to hear about your meals to work. I've got to start thinking about that myself.
Hey Bham, one of the other members recommended putting Campbell's soups in a blender to make them less chunky. I haven't had the surgery, just passing along the suggestion :)
Soup, soup, soup, soup! Trader Joe's has a great red pepper one. I added pureed potatoes for a little more substance. And also would bring some of those probiotic yogurt drinks for some protein to sip on. You'll do great :)
Hi Bhamboy,
I agree...soup.  You can add cheese and crackers to this.  Just chew, chew, chew, and have a beverage nearby to sip on help the swallowing.
Good luck!
