Pregnancy and constipation?

Some may remember from other posts I've had, that my Daughter is pregnant. Going on about 10 weeks. She did have a previous miscarriage likely due to low iron.
So far everything is looking good with her pregnancy albeit early on still. The problem has been pretty severe constipation of late. Not sure if this is Crohn's related or pregnancy related. She's always been inclined to have constipation over diarrhea.

She's at the point of needing a laxative, but there seems to be concerns over that while pregnant. She's extremely anxious about doing anything that would cause issues with her pregnancy. Does anyone have experience with these type issues? Hoping for some solutions. Her next GI appointment isn't until November, and almost impossible to hurry that up as our H/C is so overburdened now.

Hope I didn't get too long. Trying to keep it direct and to the point.
Tom it's not uncommon for women to experience constipation while pregnant, also ad in hormones to the mix.

She should contact her ob/gyn & discuss what is going on.

Does her CD affect the rectum? If so, it could be that's the issue (I'm from the UC perspective on that experience re constipation). If so, rectal medication can help deal with the inflammation. I hope all goes well through her pregnancy.

Thank-you both for the replies,

@Susie, I do have an update today related to your suggestion. Her GP examined her today. Wanted to do a CT scan, but she refused, so opted for another ultrasound. Everything looks fine there, so the Doctor contacted a specialist who looks after high risk pregnancies, and pregnancies with diseases, (like Crohn's), involved. She actually consults regularly with my Daughters GI as well. Not sure what her exact title is. She will see her this week, and over the phone has recommended Restoralax for the next several days in the meantime.
We'll see how things go
My daughter was diagnosed Feb. 19/07, (13 yrs. old at time of diagnosis), with Crohn's of the Terminal Illium. Has used Prednisone and Pentasa. Started Imuran (02/09), had an abdominal abscess (12/08). 2cm of Stricture.
Started Remicade in Feb. 2014, along with 100mgs. of Imuran.
Wanted to chime in.... I'm sorry your daughter is struggling with constipation while pregnant.

She might want to check with her doctors on taking magnesium citrate and boosting her B vitamins. She will probably want to have all her levels checked but especially her vitamin D level checked too. She needs to increase and monitor those levels through out her pregnancy AND after the birth.

Will be saying lots of prayers for you all.

Hey Clo',

Thanks so much for the suggestions, and I'll be sure to pass them along to her. I'm pretty sure she's on top of her bloodwork and levels, but I'll remind her of those suggestions as well.
Just another minor update though. Last night she tested positive for Covid. So far she's just really under the weather. We'll see over the next few days what happens.

Haven't seen you posting of late, how's things going with you?
Poor thing sounds miserable!

Has she tried a stool softener vs a laxative? Is she drinking enough? When I was pregnant, I had to drink like a full gallon a day or else I'd be constipated.

Hey Sci',
Nice to hear from you as well. She's only on Restorolax, and tried some prunes as well. Good news though, she finally had two potent, bowel movements. (This has to be the only place on the internet where you can post something like that and be happy and proud).
Definitely taking plenty of warm and cold fluids, but probably not before the constipation really got bad. Going forward, hopefully she'll be able to keep things moving with these suggestions. Thanks for responding.

Tom.
