Remicade and UTI

k so i am waiting to hear back from my infusion nurse but I am coming off of a UTI (urinary tract infection) i am already off of the antibiotics and do not have a fever. however some of the UTI symptoms are still there. i am going for my 4th iv today. i called the infusion nurse to make sure there woudl not be any issues, she is going to get back to me. Has anyone had something like this before?

Hey TamTam, yes I've had a urinary tract infection and antibiotics and then had an infusion with no problems. Have you tried some of the over the counter meds for UTI's? I think one of them is called Tazo or something like that -- ask the pharmacist but it worked well to take away the remaining bit of irritating symptoms. If those symptoms don't calm down soon though, I would call your doc and tell them you are still having some symptoms.

Thanks guys. The nurse had me go take another Urine sample to clarify if the infection was still there. it was so they put me on another round of antibiotics and asked me to wait to do my IV till tuesday. so hopefully the infection will be gone by then. My GI and infusion nurse and Gyno did not feel comfortable with me taking the IV while having an infection.

sometimes i get so frustrated with all of this stuff. i just have to remember that it could be so much worse. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.

Ah yes, Tam Tam, you are right. I recently started to try and live by the saying..."It is what it is." Hee hee....it kind of helps! Good to hear your doc was spot on and is getting you back to where you need to be. Take care, and feel better soon.
