I had my physical a couple of weeks ago and my doctor suggested it was time for me to get the shingles vaccine but asked me to double check with the gi first. The PA in my gi's office said it was ok to get as long as I only get the Singrix vaccine. Before I bite the bullet and get this vaccine, has anyone had any sort of reaction to this one? TIA

There is a past post RE Shingrix, where I can recall Quincy + Bacon Girl commenting, among others. It might be in the archives. It involves 2 injections total. My gastro has mentioned it to me a couple times, but I'm always busy with other stuff. / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC)
I have had both shots. I had the usual sore arm and I also felt sort of fluey. A bit queasy, chills, slight headache -- just generally unwell. Both times. It started the day following the shot and lasted maybe 8 hours? I was also crabby and short tempered. I didn't love those approx 8 hours (twice), but from what I hear of shingles, it's much better than shingles.
However, I seem to recall Bacon Girl having a much more severe reaction so obviously it differs from person to person. Myself, I had zero UC complications. I was in remission.

The search function is not efficient on this site, you wont find anything (my experience). With the first shot, I remember that I had chills and body aches and feeling punked the next day. I probably was punked with the second shot but do t remember. No UC issues that I can recall.
I did get shingles just over a year ago (on my butt), but it was very mild.

Thanks for the input! I tried the search function because I thought there had been a post about it, but the search feature is not very effective or efficient these days.
I will definitely be sure to schedule the vaccine when I have down time the next day. I tend to feel crummy after most vaccines although the pneumonia vaccine was shockingly easy to deal with. I have a scope in early February so I think I will wait until after the scope to get the vaccine.

mom>>>>I had both doses of Shingrix about three years ago. Last year...I had TWO bouts of shingles but mild. Doctor said that Rinvoq prevents most drugs from working. Just so you can ask your gi about the drugs you take.

Momto2-- Definitely wise to schedule when you have some down time afterward. I find myself feeling fatigued the following day from just about every injected chemical, including septocaine at the dentist's office. / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC)
I was like others - felt really crappy the next day. No affect on my UC.
