Hello all.
I had some scans a few months ago which returned an off-the-scale calcium score (4000-ish, when 400+ is regarded as significant).
I went to my GP (regular doctor) who sent me to see a cardiologist, who said he would in turn send me for a "MIBI" scan (whatever that is) but that it might take some time (this is the British health service, so things DO take time).
So far, I have heard nothing, but this is not unusual for the UK.
Now, how seriously should I take this? I am totally without symptoms. My BP is (on low-dose Ramipril) 115/65-ish, I am on stattins and low-dose aspirin, I do fairly strenous exercise (given my one legged condition) and get no chest pain or shortness of breath. I'm 58, have lost 37lbs but am still 30-odd lbs overweight.
On its own, is a very high calcium score regarded as important? Or should I just do what the doctors here seem to be doing, i.e. ignore it and trust that it'll go away?
(I know that if I was American, I would make a noise, but I'm English, and it doesn't come easy to us!)
