Hello,
Hi all. I've had UC for 8 years now. The last 4 I have been on Remicade but unfortunately I have stopped responding to it. My doc wants to put me on Simponi. I had a flex sig yesterday so she could check out what's going on before starting me on it and as expected it's inflammed and pretty active. I looked up all the info on Simponi this morning and I'm pretty nervous about it. I knew there were rare side effects of getting cancer with Remicade but it seems like there are more chances of it with Simponi. Has anyone tried Simponi? Did you experience any side effects? Any info on this drug would be super helpful as I'm suppose it start it within the next 2 weeks....
Thanks,
Tara

I started 7/25. I also had flu like symptoms about 5 days later that lasted 2-3 days. I had similar reactions to Humira, as well. I was really trying to persuade myself that it was dehydration causing my symptoms, but I'm afraid it's the drugs. My next dose is this Friday 8/8 and I'm still not sure I'm going to do it or not. Good luck!

Tara,
I had to discontinue Remicade after 5 years, it worked great for me for a long time. I tried Simponi last year and as my GI suspected prior to starting Simponi it didn't work for me. He was concerned that it wouldn't work for me because it is so similar to Remicade. Humira didn't work for me either.
You could also try Entvyio, it is much different than Remicade, Humira and Simponi.

Thanks for your responses everyone! My doc wants to try Simponi first before going to Entyvio, just because it's still so new, and I did respond to Remicade when I first got on it. So she's hoping I'll respond to Simponi.
This disease can be so tough. Hope everyone is hanging in there!

I'm about to start Simponi also. Waiting for the approval. This is my first biologic. Keeping my fingers crossed! Can't seem to stay in remission.... Hope it works for both of us!
Sometimes remission might be as simple as simponi.
Good luck.
The cake is a lie.

Is there a reason that you are trying Simponi before Remicade? The stats on Remicade are better than Simponi in bringing about remission in UC patients.
My GI thought we would try Simponi first basically due to convenience. If the simponi doesn't work then try the Remi.
