Sulphite Allergy manifest with Urinary Symptoms

After much trial and error, I have finally narrowed my urinary symptoms to the common denominator- sulphite allergy.

I have experienced at times, urgency, complete bladder emptying without warning, bladder discomfort, very like a bladder infection and slow leakage.

I had these symptoms investigated. Urinary cultures were negative, and so was a cystoscopy.

Initially the symptoms were triggered by chocolate, then sodas followed in fairly rapid succession by wine, coffee, tea, tomato paste, raisins , citrus and possibly soy.

If anyone else has had similar symptoms, I would appreciate hearing from you.
Yes, this can happen with sulfites.

Strongly suggest you look into Methylation Cycle Genomics. Here are some links to help you out:

Very few doctors have a clue about this stuff, but some are learning...

Best to not undertake treatment on your own...google "Dr. Amy Yasko" if you want more details. She pioneered the whole methylation cycle thing as a means of treating kids with Autism.

Take care,
did you ever find an answer to all this as I am having a torrid time and need help
Yes, I too have had a severe sensitivity to sulfites, even minute amounts (less than 10 ppm I suspect). I have had this condition for over 25 years. The principal symptom in my case is evidently rare, but nonetheless has been "verified" literally many hundreds of times through the years; that being frequent urination. By "frequent" I mean it results in the sudden need to urinate, sometimes every 30 minutes at the onset of symptoms.
With a mild dose, the symptoms usually do not appear until I am asleep in bed. Then, throughout the night, it can result in getting up 6 or 8 times. And NO, this is not symptomatic of anything else (such as BPH), because when I then eliminate consuming the questionable food or drink item (almost always something new that I haven't had before) the symptom disappears; every time, again hundreds and hundreds of unwanted "tests" throughout 25 years!
I would appreciate hearing from others with this evidently unusual symptom.
Thank you.
I have sulphite allergy which is genetic but red wines go well for me .

wines have highest .
Cilly
Yes, wine provided the first clue as to the source of the symptom I was experiencing. Over the years since then, I became more and more sensitive to the presence of sulfites. Now, there is no quantity of wine, no matter how small, that does not cause symptoms.
This is an old thread so I hope you see this.

It only takes a minute or two for me to feel bladder urgency after drinking even a few sips of wine.

I have been trying to find sulfite free wines from Argentina and Peru. I do not have these symptoms when I drink these wines.
I have also had the same reactions it sounds like with my bladder I'm not sure if it's sulfites or sugar I noticed that when I eat anything with any kind of glycemic index my bladder reacts. Maybe sulfites are to blame as well I'm still new to all of this I've never had allergies to anything in my life before 2015 when I became sick with autoimmune disorders. I'm having a lot of body reactions to many different things I'm having a lot of problems with my bladder though and your symptoms sound a lot like mine I haven't had complete emptying of the bladder yet but I do have to get up 10 to 15 times a night to pee very small amounts and it's an achy kind of feeling in my bladder
