Suspected aneurism showed on MRI

I went to a new headache doctor because the treatments I was doing were but helping. She suggested an MRI and it suggests a possible brain aneurysm, and white spots in the brain. I had a very brief discussion with my doctor on the phone yesterday and she said all these terms that I didn’t really understand. I honestly didn’t expect her to find anything.

Half of me is relieved that we found a possible reason for my headaches but I’ll also terrified that there might be something very seriously wrong with me. Has anyone else had scans with results that are similar?

The next step is a CT scan of the head and neck. Until I get the next set of scans back, I cannot take Eletripan for the headaches. Just Tylenol and Nerivio. Ugh. My current headache is horrible.
Welcome!

Sorry it took a while to reply.

I get the relief of knowing something

Thanks. I know that if it were very risky they would act immediately. They did do the CT scan and it did confirm an aneurism. I am going to a neuro vascular doctor now. They prescribed me NURTEC in the meantime for my migraines since it doesn’t silicate my blood vessels like the eletriptan does.

Has anyone ever taken NURTEC before?

I’m eager to go to the neuro doc to see what the next steps are for the aneurism. Fingers crossed it’s a wait and watch situation.

Update- diagnosed with brain aneurism in the front part of my brain. I had more tests done to confirm it’s 5.5 mm, which is relatively small in terms of brain aneurism sizes. It does need to be taken care of- met with a neurosurgeon and they will be going through the artery in my leg to put in a mesh/web device to “fill” the aneurism.

We’re waiting until July until the newer version of the web device is coming out so hopefully it will be done in July or August. Until then, I wait.

Apparently it’s not causing my headaches! And taking care of it will not prevent me from getting headaches. They have nothing to do with them. It was just a fluke find! Weird huh?
