HI. I am Monica, I am a sufferer from heart burn ever since I was pregnant with my first child 22 years ago. I have taken all of the meds they have to offer last night for example I took protonix and my reglan (3 times a day) then had to take emergency meds of prilosec and then rolaids to get it under control enough to sleep.
My reflux goes up my nose and I have a hard time swallowing because it is like a huge bubble there. I have a frog in my throat and sinus drainage. I have to sleep sitting up and my life sucks because I can hardly eat anything without it flaring up. I find myself saying "it is just not worth it" So I dont eat much.
My doctor is going to talk to me next week to see if I am a candidate for the TIF procedure. What is the qualifications to be a candidate?
If u get the TIF how do u take pills?
How long is the hospital stay?
Should I use a more experienced doctor? My doctor has never done it before and is in training.
who has had success from this procedure? and feedback please.
My quality of life is reducing each year because of my health problems and this GERD takes the cake.
Any advice would be wonderful. Thank you.
Monica.
Hi Monica,
I had my procedure on July 9th. There is an overnight stay and then you're released. Right after surgery, I was really nauseated! After my 2 week check up I was able to get off my protonix, but I suffer with being nauseated everyday! It's so annoying! I now take meds for that every six hours. I wonder if it will ever get better. Not everyone has this symptom for this long though.

I sure hope it gets better for you soon. Are u still on a liquid diet? I had a friend who had gastric bypass who started soft food too soon and got super nauseated. After she went back on liquid she started to feel better after a day or two. Keep me posted as to how you do. I am super curious. My doctor gave me the OK to get it but he is waiting for his credentials.
