I just read a reply that I wanted to respond to. The Americans with Disabilities Act provides us with the right to take UNPAID leave time for treatment. You do not have to use your vacation time or your sick time if you don't want to (or if you can afford not to.) There is also State Disability, which you will automatically apply for when you fill out the paperwork for the Americans with Disabilities Act paperwork.
I chose to take my treatment sick days as unpaid days and when I was done with treatment, I had like two weeks vacation left, and just as much sick time. Of course, we had two incomes at the time and not a tight budget, so I was able to live without the pay. The time was able to be saved. I just hope all of you who were on chemo this year knew about this. Don't let your bosses make you think they're doing you a favor because if they are making you use sick time or vacation time for chemo and recovery from chemo, you may be able to do something about it.

Good information. Each state has a different set up for disability, tho. And many companies have great disability insurance that you really don't know much about until someone uses it. My employer provided it and it was a godsend for me for five years. If anyone is giving you a hard time about missing work, just let us know and we will tell you all we can to help you. Hugs MK
I guess Im very lucky to have good insurance that covers me for as long as I need. the only drawback is I only get paid 60% when I'm off so I try to work as often as I can. I have not had to use any of my vacation time.
