.
Mine is 28mm but its an ileostomy so they are normally quite a bit smaller then colostomys iv heard , if your doctor says its ok im sure you have nothing to worry about
Had my colon removed sept 2017 in emergency surgery because it perforated because of toxic mega colon, was told i had uc originally but that changed to crohns when the pathology came back after
have ileostomy probably permanent

Mine was also just under an inch, but I believe colostomies are always larger than ileos.

my stoma from a colostomy sticks out 1/4 inch, looks like a tiny rose tatoo. For looks, its great, but messy for pooping, lol
clo2014: Uhhhhhh....stoma's are not like getting a hair cut or a makeover, LOL! It all depends on your surgeon and his/her history of performing this operation.
My stoma, for good or bad, sticks out about an inch. I wish my Dr. had made it about 1/2 inch shorter, but that's life. I don't hardly ever have a leak because of that. But, I always "hit" it if I'm not paying attention in the yard, working on the car, etc. and, yes, the stitches holding it there still hurt when that happens.
Also, do you have an illeostomy or a colostomy? If the latter, your colon is larger than your small intestines in diameter, so it will be larger. Mine is an illeostomy, and though 1" long is only about 1-1/8" wide at the base.

I agree about needing a book at first!
Also agree that stomas from the large intestine are bigger.
Mine sticks out abound 1 1/2? Inches. And I am between sizes 35mm and 32mm. I also have terrible with bumping it if I'm doing activity outside. Two piece appliances help me with that, and I also wear a StomaGuard.
