Uceris Foam Increased Bleeding

I am new to the site but have had UC for the past 15 years or so. I was prescribed Uceris rectal foam due to a recent flair that got better with prednisone but my normal maintenance meds stopped working (canasa suppositories 1 x a day) and started Uceris rectal foam 2x a day for almost 3 weeks now and my bleeding just keeps getting worse. Has anyone else had this experience?
I would say you’re under-treating a flare and not blame the uceris. But that’s just my personal opinion and guess and everyone is different on how they react to meds.

Have you been on Canasa with no other meds for 15 years? Canasa is only 1000 mg/g/whatever the measurement is — and mesalamine level for flares is a lot more than that. Sorry, I’m forgetting the mesalamine recommended dosage.
UC pancolitis DX March 2016,
Partial Colectomy for diverticulitis Sept 2014
Discontinued as of January 2020: Apriso. Canasa & Uceris foam if needed.
Probiotics, Reuteri pearls, CoQ10, Metamucil daily.
Aimovig monthly injections for migraines.
Started Entyvio 3/29/17 (Constant flares since March 2016 only relieved by Prednisone)
IN REMISSION!
Interesting - my bleeding was exasperated with the first treatment with cortenema when first dx with proctitis … it was instantaneous and worsened with each subsequent application … after a few attempts I seeked another physicians care and was switched to rowasa (and Asacol) - worked like a charm and have been strictly on Asacol HD for many years now.
female born in 1959
Acute proctitis dx in 1991 - progressed to left sided then pancolitis - rx’s maintain remission
Also suffer from fatigue, degenerative arthritis - multiple joints & osteopenia
Current Rx Asacol HD 2400mg/day
Previous asacol, rowasa, delzicol, & dipentium
Cortenema treatment severely exasperated bleeding
Hi...welcome to the forum.

What is the extent location of your UC, and what are your UC symptoms exactly (stool consistency, frequency and urgency?).

Thank you all for your responses! Little bit more back story… my UC is in my rectum only after showing some signs of possible crohns higher up about 10 years ago which was dismissed by my doc as a outlier. Been on sulfasalazine 2,000 mg per day and canasa 1000 mg a day for the past 3 years or so and everything was ok. I suck at taking my meds regularly and started to flair a year ago and have been on 2 rounds of prednisone which put me into remission only when I am on them but then flair back up shortly after and Canasa stopped working. Totally learned my lesson and take meds religiously now!

My urgency to go happens so frequently now, and when I do “go” (about 6 times a day) most times it is just mucus and blood.
Hi...when was your last c-scope?
What is the consistency of the stool...are you having loose stool or diarrhea? Or just blood and mucus?

I suggest you request mesalamine retention enemas of 4g nightly and use the Canasa during the day.
