Yesterday and today I've had a low-grade fever (99.3 to 99.7). Then I'll get a hot flash and my temperature will drop two degrees (to normal). I am having gas like crazy, and I have shooting pain where the fistula plug was put in (on the vaginal side). The two times I had a fever, one was UTI that was so bad I stopped urinating and was vomiting, and the other time was when I went septic. Even my last abscess didn't have a fever. I am trying not to panic. I just feel all-around rotten. Burning hot one minute, freezing cold the next. It's ridiculous. No diarrhea or bleeding, no abnormal stomach pain. I'm tapering my norco, but it doesn't feel like my typical withdrawals, and I'm only going down a pill a week (so really not a biggie at all, considering I don't even absorb most of it).
Any thoughts?

Well, first I'm sorry you're not feeling well. That just plain old sucks. The good news is... Most docs don't worry about infection or a problem until your fever hits 100.4. So, with it being low grade, it could just be a symptom of active disease. I have frequently dealt with low grade fevers with my CD, even when my bowels weren't horribly active. You could be extra run-down physically too. Also it's really good that your fever is breaking (the hot flashes) because that means it's getting back to normal temps and not staying with the fever. It sucks to ride the roller coaster and do the back and forth with cold and hot, but it's actually a good sign that your body isn't maintaining the fever.
Try to get a few days of rest and sleep and eat as much as you can. Hopefully soon you'll be good as new.

I think my fibro is flaring too - I am in so much pain tonight. It's been escalating the last few days, but it's really bad tonight. Like a 7 or so, especially in my legs. And pain meds just don't work for me orally. I don't absorb anything.

She told me to wait out the rest of the day and if it continued to go to the ER and get fluids. I threw up lunch with some blood, and my stools had blood in the evening. So I went to the ER and got fluids and some pain meds for the fibro flare. Got home about midnight.

Are they doing any testing? Did they test for c.diff? I'm glad you got fluids and pain medicine, but do they need to change your medications or management plan?

did you say you vomited blood? That sounds like it's not a fibro flare.

Agree that bloody vomit is not a fibro symptom I've heard of. My fibro is flaring right now too (sucks so much) so I feel your pain, but you may need further attention for the other things that don't sound typical of fibro!
Hope you're better soon, pls keep us updated.

Nope, no real testing other than CBC and a urine sample. I wasn't able to give a stool sample, but everything stopped up and today I was constipated. I think I just caught a bug that's been going around here. I just get so dehydrated so quickly when I start throwing up. There wasn't tons of blood, just some streaks, so I think it just was from being irritated from throwing up so much. That happened when I was pregnant a lot.
