HI EVERYONE! FOR THE PAST THREE WEEKS MY SON HAS BEEN WAKING UP EVERY MORNING WITH HORRIBLE ABDOMINAL PAINS AND NAUSEA. HE DOES THROW UP A LITTLE EVRY MORNING. HE SEEMS FINE AS THE DAY GOES BY. I TOOK HIM TO THE DOCTOR AND THEY GAVE HIM ZEGERID THINKING MAYBE ULCER OR ACID REFLUX. AFTER BEING ON THE MEDICINE FOR A WEEK THERE'S NO IMPROVEMENT AND THE SAME SYMPTOMS. YESTERDAY THEY STARTED HIM ON BENTYL. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. HE'S 12 YEARS OLD AND A 7TH GRADER. HE HURTS SO BAD IN THE MORNING AND IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO GET HIM TO SCHOOL. I GAVE HIM 4 DOSES OF BENTYL YESTERDAY AND HE SAID HIS STOMACH FEELS THE SAME. ANY SUGGESTION? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. MY HUSBAND IS NOT SYMPATHETIC AT ALL WITH HIM AND THIS. HE THINKS THAT HE IS FAKING IT. I GAVE HIM SPRITE AND CRACKERS TO EAT THIS AM AND HE THREW THAT UP. THANKS!

I'm sorry to hear that your son is going through tough times right now. I have an 11 year old son so I know how it feels to be a worried mother. I hate to hear of kids so young as yours go through so much pain and misery. I'm not sure what to tell you. My first guess would have been acid reflux as your doctors had suspected which is why the zegerid was prescribed. Maybe there is another GERD medication that will work for him. I know that my symptoms with my GERD were worse when I was put on Nexium but I felt a lot better shortly after starting Prevacid (which I am on today). Has his doctor suggested running some tests to find out what it may be?
