I usually post on depression. I am waiting on a call for a job. One I hope I got, but there is no word yet.
I have built this unemployment thing up into something bigger than it is.
I am having trouble leaving the phone (I don't have a cell) and going about my day. I am also angsting over what will happen if I don't get the job.
I am doing deep breathing, imagery, and focusing. I am using positive statements (for the most part.) I realize that the job is not equal to my own self, that it is not the only thing about me that matters. I am more than my employment.
I just wanted to state that.
Thank you for sharing! It often helps to be able to get things off our chest.
Out of curiosity, what other jobs have you applied for just in case this one doesn't come to fruition?
We can generally feel more at ease when we have backup plans in place!

Unfortunately, I have been searching for over a year. My work experience is very specialized, and although I have been broadening my resume, I have had little nibbles.
This was my second interview in my discipline. The only back-up is substitute teaching.
Today I have finished three applications. No phone call. I am getting more and more anxious. Trying not to lose it.

Have you considered (while you're waiting) applying for other jobs? Perhaps not in your field, but maybe related (or even not?) It will keep you busy, keep your mind agile, and retain an income.
I changed careers entirely when I met my Husband! Never saw that one coming, to be sure.

I am applying for every job I am even remotely appropriate for. No nibbles. The only interviews I have had were for teaching/education positions. Seriously, I send out at least 7-8 apps a week.
And now I am up with anxiety.
