What is a 403 error? I just got one while trying to enter a post just now

I just tried to enter a Friday post here, as I usually do, and got the message

403 error

which seems to mean, after I looked it up, that I was trying to access an unauthorized page.
Which doesn’t make sense, as what I was trying to do was start a new thread.

A forum glitch at this time?

Error on my end?

Any ideas?

I’ll try again later, and if no luck, I’ll try posting again another day.

Without getting into the technical description (which I just looked up on ChatGPT) this is sh!t that happens from time to time on web sites. Could be they were doing maintenance or a heavy load request or just stuff happens. I get that code from time to time on websites. Anyway, clear your cache and cookies and try again. I suspect it will work fine. If not, let me know and I’ll contact tech support.

“… clear your cache and cookies and try again.” Yep, I did that and tried the post again and this time it worked. Thanks for your help, Tudpock!

Is this your first rodeo with websites? :innocent:

I think these issues have gotten worse in recent years including the fake error warnings. Sometimes a different browser or device can help solve the problem. Sometimes it is just something with website for a short period.

“Is this your first rodeo with websites?” Compared to you computer guys here, I wouldn’t even make it past the rodeo admission booth! <grin!>
