It wasn't prostate cancer in Bill's case (it was stage 4 melanoma), and daughter Melanie Shatner Gretsch had stage 4 breast, but the video below details their recoveries in their own words.

They both sound like strong people in how they handled it, and both are apparently okay at present.

I found it inspiring. A side of Captain Kirk we probably never knew existed.

That was a nice video. I think the takeaway for me, is to appreciate the little things as we go through this journey. Although I don't like being in limbo as my future treatment path/timeline is waiting to be defined, I do enjoy the individual moments of my life, the beauty of the place I live and sharing those with others.
Age 61 at time of diagnosis, elevated PSA during routine physical prompted investigation
12/20 biopsy: 10/16 cores, Gleason 4 + 3,
2/9/21: RALP at Cottage Hospital, Santa Barbara CA, Dr. Tobis. pT3a N0, Gleason 4 + 3 = 7. PSA became detectable 4 years after surgery, facing future treatment.
