Ya gotta laugh

Hi everyone, before I was released on Thursday, the ward nurse redid my dressings, when we got home I went to sit on the toilet, and quickly realised that the nurse had not allowed enough loop on the catheter....OUCH...as Mr willy was pulled straight...so had to sit in all my glory while my wife removed the tape and we worked out the right amount of slack...

Yesterday, I observed that the drain bottle was nearing only 200ml left, and as the nurse was not coming till Monday to take out the drain, I needed a new bottle, rang hospital, they said come in for bottle change, drove to hospital, (45min) changed bottle, got home at 3pm, did usual stuff, showered changed, and settled down, at 7pm, stood up, caught drain hose in recliner, and broke it!...rang hospital, they said "come in ASAP"...and very sheepishly returned, to comments like " are you sure you would not like to stay overnight" and "see you in  2 hours".

Today I am staying put. yeah

Regards Mal.

Maldugs. Take it easy. Trust me you can get yourself in more trouble if you don't. I don't know how you could break that tube. I would think you would tear it out completly before it broke. It will come out in due time, and to quote Bluebird be good to it because it will be good to you. It is a necsssary part of the healing process. Take care and keep in touch.

Hi there Mika, the drain tube halfway along has an attatchment where the more flexible tube that goes into your body connects to the drain bottle hose, when I broke it, I pulled the connection off which released the vacuum, so therefore the drain stopped working....don't worry I am being real careful, and hopefully the home nurse is going to take it out tomorrow :-)
