Hi Everyone!

I just had an EP Study and Ablation done last Friday. It was successful thankfully! I had Right Ventricular Outflow Tract - ventricular tachycardia (RVOT-VT). I have not had any VT since. Just a few skipped beats or flutters that they said I would feel for the first little while.

They are also sending me for an MRI in a couple weeks.

Has anyone else had RVOT-VT and if so, did they request you have an MRI as well? Just curious what it's for.

Today's the day.  Ack!  I leave in about an hour.  I have to arrive at 8:30 and the procedure is at 10:30.  I'm really nervous right now.  I can't wait until this is over.  I had an appt with my EP yesterday but had to cancel bc I ended up going to the ER with an asthma attack.  I was really hoping to be able to talk to my doc about my holter monitor and event monitor results before the test so I'd feel a little more informed.  I think that would have helped my nerves a bit.

Hi y'all,

I made it home yesterday evening.  I was so tired, I didn't even turn on my computer. 

My doctor isn't certain how successful the ablation was yet.  Time will tell.  I ended up being on the table for four hours!  That a lot longer than was suspected since my heart had already been mapped.  When my doc ablated my SA node down to 75 my AV node went crazy and started beating really fast.  So, that meant that the top and bottom chambers of my heart weren't beating together.  I ended up in CCU.  My doc thought he may need to go back in and possibly put in a pacemaker so my stents were left in for a while...luckily, he changed his mind and they were removed Friday night. 

I'm ok now...he said my heart is beating normally.  He said something that worried me though.  When I went in, my heart rate was 91.  When I was discharged, it was 93.  He's not sure if it worked or not.  He said the only way we'll know is if it happens again...not exactly what I wanted to hear.

I'm just really sore and really tired right now.

I bet you're glad to have got that out of the way! We've been thinking about you. I wish it had been  more conclusive for you though. When will you be seeing your doctor for follow up?

Hey Guys: I'm back after a very busy time in my life....Lil-glad your hanging in there, it takes a lot of courage to go "back-in", I know you'll get this worked out.

I wanted to give you guys an update on me...for the most part I've been doing really well, no major flips or flops. I am finding something interesting though and I wanted to know if anyone else has felt or heard this. If I eat to much or get too full after a meal, my heart rate goes up sometimes to 104. Last night was the worst, after I ate I went to my sons baseball game and I started feeling really full, not quite short of breath but uncomfortable. Within about 15mins, I could feel my heart rate rising I got up to walk around and it jumped to 107+, then as I was taking my pulse I could feel my heart pausing, like it would stop beating or skipping a beat. I had no chest pain or dizziness. So I took my meds and went home to lay down, by then I was back down to 90's then on down from there. So I don't know if I just got a little scared or what but everthing's back to normal today. I guess in the back of my mind I don't want to think about having another ablation.

Hi and Welcome back thedwp!!   I'm not a Dr. so I cannot diagnose, but my husband has some arrhythmia problems that so far are controlled by taking beta blockers.  One thing he's noticed over the years was having them after he ate...being on the bb's now help him-he says he can still notice them, but they aren't quite as pronounced.  The one's he seemed to get the most were the PVC's after eating and it really made him nervous not knowing what was going on.  The Dr. even told him that an irritation of the esophagus and esophageal spasms could cause this uncomfortable feeling.  I think once he knew what they were for sure, it helped!!

I hope you feel better real soon and it's great to hear from you!!  Here's a link that you may have read already, but I figured it might be useful...

Hello all

I saw my cardiologist last week. The new equipment he needs should be up and running next month, but he wants to use it for a while before he does my next (3rd) ablation. So it's still 'hurry up and wait'. Oh well, what can you do? I had another collapse last week, apparently my blood pressure goes unfeasibly low; but it doesn't last long. Everything else is as usual - pulse about 130 first thing in the morning, breathlessness etc. I'll be awfully glad to get this fixed.

Lil, glad your ablation is over. It sounds quite frightening, to me, to not know whether it worked or not. I'm crossing my fingers that it did.

I have a question about ablation. I was on the Cedars-Sinai website and read this: "Radiofrequency ablation is similar to cardiac catheterization. Thin wires (catheters) are threaded through the groin, arms or neck into different areas of the heart. Once the abnormal pathway is found, electrical energy is applied to it through the catheter. This may need to be done several times to get rid of an abnormal heart rhythm. The procedure can be done either as an inpatient or outpatient service. "
When the article says that it can be done several time is it referring to one single ablation or that you can have several ablations? Or is that redundant? Sorry for sounding so ignorant. but I'd like to know. Grins.

Juliette, gosh, I'm so sorry it's taking this long-I can imagine the wait is terrible!!  I sort of figured that you had it done and were doing fine and just going about doing your own thing!-I had no idea that you were still waiting!!

good question. I suppose the number of times you need to go through the whole procedure depends on what the problem is. I was told that for someone with my problems I had a 1% chance of 2 ablation procedures not working. My doctor said that 3 is the limit. The number of actual 'burns' during the procedure seems to vary a lot. I had more done during my 2nd ablation because the procedure set off different rhythms.

I don't know if this is the sort of info. you were asking for???
